Wedding Stuff Update!

  • Feb. 22nd, 2005 at 10:08 AM

Ok, it's been awhile since I updated all of my wedding stuff in one place. Pieces of it have been scattered all over, and I seem to have trouble organizing it all in one place, even in my own head. Luckily I have the worlds best planner/organizer (sis in law) coming to help me - and I have some great friends that seem so willing to lend a hand. Sometimes the realization that I have such wonderful people in my life surprises me, although I don't know why it should.

K.. Dress.. Bought, paid for, and sitting in my closet looking all pretty n stuff.

Click to see dress... Ray, no clicky!

Shoes;
Not bought/made. I was thinking of buying these but my thrifty/crafty nature really rebels against purchasing something I could make for cheaper.

Click for shoes - Ray, no clicky!

Chelsea's Dress;
Hitting a snag here.. it's called "15 year old". I would have to make this, because they want like $300 for it, and that's a big NO. But here's what I want for her;

I still need this, imo.

Rings still in the running;

Posey rings for the wedding. I kind of like these ones. I'd want it in white gold, though.
"Ot Dushi (FROM MY SOUL) – Russian Poesy Ring
Museum Authorized Reproduction hand-cast by the lost-wax method and finished in the US. Available in Sterling Silver, 14k or 18k Yellow, White or Rose Gold and Platinum by special order. Available sizes are whole and half sizes 5-12. Price: $55.00 (silver)"

More Notes I've made on "wedding stuffs":

Invites;
*This part may actually drive me insane. I've started on wording, tho. Here's some quotes I have so far;

************************************************

[a few quotes I'm thinking of using]

(Maybe to put on the directions page)
I know a bank where the wild thyme blows,
Where oxlips and the nodding violet grows,
Quite over-canopied with luscious woodbine,
With sweet musk-roses and with eglantine.
- A Midsummer Night's Dream

So we grew together,
Like to a double cherry, seeming parted,
But yet an union in partition.
Two lovely berries moulded on one stem;
So, with two seeming bodies, but one heart.
- A Midsummer Night's Dream

Each friend represents a world in us,
a world possibly not born until they arrive,
and it is only by this meeting that a new world is born.
- Anaïs Nin

True love is friendship - caught on fire.
- Anonymous
*******************************************

*I have some other things written, but since I don't want to ruin it for the invitees I'm gonna keep it secret for a bit.

Site Decoration

*Glass jars w/candles
*Flowers (hopefully wild flowers, hopefully cheap!)
*Music (Not sure what yet.. probably Govinda, thought of asking big brother to play some guitar music, tho. He plays so beautifully)
*Flower petals down the path (Jetta had some cool idea 'bout this, I'll have to ask her again) Still thinking on this.. may be a good idea, but it seems too much like work. ew.

Reception
*Update on this, I've written the little private school I attended while living in Wilton, and they do rent out their facilities at times.. although I've not heard back from them on cost. I'll find this out.
I've also sent emails to The Stepping Stone BB and the Wilton Library asking them if they ever rent space to have a small reception.
*Lots of little string lights
*Flowers
*Favors (I'm getting some aid from Miss Lee and Jetta on this one - plus, it should be a surprise :P )
*CAKE!! YAY!
*Candles
*Appetizer type finger food. (Joyce has offered to cater this. I'm going to contact her more about that. I've also asked my Step-mother to help me with menu decisions.)
*Champagne
*Coffee/Tea
*Music

Things I have left to sort out/do

*Figure out exactly how I'm going to do the invites. Can't be plain ol' regular invites...that would be so not-me.

*Get Chelsea's dress.

*Drag the fella to Headlines to try on the piratey medival shirt I want him to wear. (I may need to drug him or get him drunk first)

*Decide on a menu (Hors Dourves)

*Find a freakin' place for the reception - For gods sake, should it really be this hard?!

*Get together with the priestess. She's supposed to email me but again I've not heard from her. I'll have to call her on Friday when she's at work and poke her til she sends me what she's been writing up.

*Figure out how we'll arrange the office room to house the mom-in-law to be.

*Send out the last few "hold the date" cards to people I've added to the guest list.

*Go Cake Testing! YAY!! A very good part of the wedding process.. I shall eat cake until I no longer fit in my wedding attire.

*Remember to take 10 minutes to thank my fella for making me so happy and dealing with my psychotic wedding planning behavior.

*Talk to a travel agent about the honeymoon. I'm really stressed about this one. I'm so worried about the money for this - I'm almost afraid to find out exactly what it will cost.

*As soon as it's spring I need to ride out to the place where the lady sell such gorgeous wild flowers. She sells the beautiful bouqets for $4.00 a bunch.. I want about 10 bunches. I figure I'll go out there and leave her a note (since she doesn't stand out there, she just has an honor system box.. how cute, eh?)

*When it's warm I want Ray, Chels and I to go to the falls and sort of figure out how we'll do things there. Maybe I'll drag a few friends too. (email me if you want in! hehe)

Well.. that's it for today. I'm sure I'll think of about 50 other things in the next month or so.

Re: just a thought
*nodnod* Yes! I thought that may work too.. that's why I can't really stand the thought of spending the amount of money that woman is asking. Seems a bit silly, to me.

Oh DJ - I'm sorry for the infection! The doctor told me that if I stayed on the medication no one else would be harmed! ;) Careful dear.. you could suddenly have an overwhelming urge to traipse around in a wedding dress and flip flops!

Let me let you in on a lil secret bout my dress. I paid $150 for (plus $30 shipping). I went on Ebay, found dresses I liked, went n tried'em on at the local dress shop, listened to the sales lady tell me how the $600 price tag was very good.. said "I'll go home and think about it", then proceeded to order it from a woman on Ebay. No alterations needed (we were the same size) and it's totally perfect! Voila! Cheap-o dress that looks perfect :D I love bein' thrifty! hehe

Better late than never (cartwheelskater)
Hey there, It looks like you have done a lot of work, already, on your wedding. :) I'm happy your dress has arrived. I like the idea of making your own flip flops. I am here to offer support, moral et other. Please call up if you want any help, even with mundane items, such as addressing and sealing envelopes for invitations, be there to shop for Chelsea dress fabric, etc. :) NO pressure, just offering support.
